Waste as resource

  • Designed a set of custom icons to represent the company values
  • Reworked the existing copy for a web audience and added clear CTAs to help the company generate leads
  • Art direction for photo assets

It all started with a beautifully practical purpose: take human waste and turn it into fuel. The realization of this dream will improve sanitation in the communities who embraced it, provide a sustainable fuel source, and decrease industrial production of CO2. Pivot, a startup company, is working to clean things up, but they needed to improve the way they were sharing their good work with the world. That's when CoLab received a request: Could CoLab help Pivot launch their new site? Could we do it on a very tight timeline? Yes. We could.

We hit the ground running with an audit of all the materials Pivot had to work with. They already had previous branding and web development work from Nav.co, and infographics from Infographic.ly. Ultimately, the website came together thanks to the excellent starter kit we had to work with.

Our design work focused on three key areas: visual consistency, custom icons, and content. We further established brand identity through consistent typography and use of color. We designed a set of custom icons to represent the company values. Then, we edited Pivot's copy to be web-friendly and added clear CTAs designed to generate leads. As a final touch, we added new, high-impact photographs on each page.

Chief Business Development Officer, Pivot Works

Working with CoLab was a great experience. Everyone was responsive and attentive to my company's needs. The team was creative and collaborative, being able to both take direction but also add insightful ideas when they were needed.

The combination of these small, strategic tweaks had a profound effect. The finished project was clean, professional, contemporary and reflective of the Pivot's identity. This was achieved with great efficiency on a tight timeline. CoLab is proud of this work and grateful that we were able to contribute to an organization with such a profound social and environmental impact working with such excellent partners.
